Alex O'Donoghue

Commonwealth Networks Officer

Alex joined the External Affairs team in August 2011 after spending four years at the UK Houses of Parliament, working first for an MP and then co-ordinating the Africa All Party Parliamentary Group as an employee of the Royal African Society. Whilst working for RAS she also established and ran the Comic Relief funded African Diaspora project ‘Africa-UK’.

At the Foundation Alex’s role is to develop and service effective networks within and beyond Commonwealth civil society. She is also the Company Secretary for Friends of the Commonwealth - an international network of individuals and affiliated institutions which aims to maximise the reach and impact of existing Commonwealth networks.

Alex has a Masters in International Politics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) and a BA in History from the University of Sheffield. She grew up abroad, primarily in Cyprus, and since graduating has worked for the Government of Ontario in Canada and for the United Nations in Liberia.

In her free time, Alex enjoys cooking, movies, television and reading. She is trying to like exercising.
