Creative writing is, more often than not, a lonely business. And writing a successful short story for radio is a far from straightforward task. With this in mind, for entrants to the Commonwealth Short Story Competition 2010, we put together a collection of 'sound bites' of advice from published and award-winning authors with the aim to encourage and support aspiring short story writers.
The result is a vibrant patchwork quilt of first-hand experience and practical advice. There's a short, snappy download of the essential tips and a more detailed download giving further thoughtful advice from established writers with links for additional reading. There is also a download of biographies of all the writers who kindly contributed to the guides. Whatever kind of short story you want to write, we hope these resources will inspire and support you.
