The primary object of the Commonwealth Institute is to advance education in the Commonwealth.
The purpose of the Institute is education, specifically primary and secondary education and teacher training across the Commonwealth, as endorsed by Commonwealth Ministers and Heads of Government.
Its initiatives include the Centre for Commonwealth Education, which is a joint venture with Cambridge University. Currently research is being undertaken in Africa, India and Pakistan.
The LOOK Project (Lifestyle Of Our Kids), a longitudinal study being undertaken in Australia assessing a method of introducing activity into primary school education and examining its impact on health and academic performance. This has relevance in both developed and developing countries.
