The Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Awards 2007
About the Awards
The Commonwealth Arts and Crafts Awards aim to increase mutual understanding between people from different cultures though artistic exchange.
Every two years the Awards enable promising artists and craftspeople from Commonwealth countries to spend time developing their art and sharing their practice in another Commonwealth country, working alongside other artists or within an arts institution.
The Awards are open to professional artists and craftspeople aged between 20 and 45 from Commonwealth countries. Up to ten Awards of up to £8,000 each will be given to cover the costs of a residency for a period of between three and nine months. Normally the payment covers airfares, fees, living expenses and the cost of publicly documenting the residency in some way, for example mounting an exhibition, holding a workshop or open studio or producing a catalogue.
Applications are judged by panels of professional artists and administrators with a wide experience of the arts and crafts in the Commonwealth.
Deadline for receipt of entries: 1 MAY 2007
Aims
