2008 Regional Winners

The 2008 Commonwealth Writers' Prize regionalSade Adeniran
winners were announced at a series of events in
Sydney, Australia; Kingston, Jamaica; Kampala,
Uganda and London, UK, on 13 March 2008 as a
part of Commonwealth Week.

The regional winners of the 2008 Commonwealth Writers' Prize have now been revealed. They are as follows:

Africa

Best Book: Karen King-Aribisala (Nigeria) The Hangman's Game Peepal Tree Press

These eight regional winners will now enter the second phase of the competition where they will compete for title of overall Best Book and overall Best First Book.

In a unique aspect of the Prize, all winners are invited to take part in a final programme that includes a series of readings, discussions and other public events, as well as the concluding round of judging and a presentation ceremony for the overall awards. .

The prize is sponsored and organised by the Commonwealth Foundation, with the support of the Macquarie Group Foundation across all four regions.
